Pit-fired Jar
Handcrafted stoneware pit-fired vase.
Unglazed stoneware pieces are loaded into a pit and smothered in sawdust, leaves, salt, eggshells, flowers, weeds, mushrooms, grass and other organic materials. A bonfire is lit above, alchemizing the materials with the surface of the clay, resulting in unpredictable markings reminiscent of Earth’s natural beauty.
*Due to porous and unglazed surface, pit-fired pottery is not food-safe; decorative only.
