Crystal -Energy 

Since ancient times, humans believed that crystals held special powers. They were held in high regard and used during the Viking-age for various purposes. That sounds crazy I know; that the ‘woo-woo crystal-obsessed’ weirdos have anything in common with the ruthless berserkers from our ancient past. Icelandic Spar, varieties of Quartz or Iolite, were stones known as the ‘Viking Compass,’ It was said that one could hold a thin slab towards the sky, serving as a glare-reducer which created a polarized filter to help navigate and locate the sun on cloudy days. This allowed these Nordic mariners to pinpoint their direction while out at sea. Garnet was cherished by warriors as it was said to offer protection in battle and enhance their fighting prowess. They often embedded Garnet or Amber into the end of the handle of their swords; setting the intention to allow its powers to lead them to victory. Amethyst was also thought to be a highly protective stone; often used in amulets. Shields would be adorned with Hematite, known as the ‘Warrior’s Stone,’ which would be thought to instill courage, fortitude, and resilience during battle. The grounding properties offered stability and focus during a time of importance. As deeply spiritual people; even the barbaric Viking-age warriors believed that by setting an intention to a stone would help to enhance their courage, strength and mental focus, serving as protective talismans during their daring expeditions. Shamans and healers used various crystals durings their healing practices; which were worshiped in these ancient societies. 

In Modern days, according to metaphysics, crystals act as a power hold for healing as they allow positive, fruitful energy to flow into the body and pull away toxic negative energy. Like other forms of alternative therapy, crystals work by channelizing your energy to allow your own body to heal itself from the inside.

Each crystal is said to have a different effect on the mind and body, as various colors help activate different chakras, or energy centers in the body. The crystal energies are said to arise from the unique way their atoms and molecules move and interact; which in turn, affect our bodies and minds. 

Although it is often thought to be a bit “woo-woo” to the logical mind; our ancestors have valued crystals and their healing properties for thousands of years. As new age and spiritual topics are increasing in popularity, it is with hope that we can one day return to our ancestral roots.
